Mission statement

The Delores Project provides safe, comfortable shelter and personalized services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness. We also work to end homelessness by advocating for housing solutions.

Brief description of services provided

The Delores Project offers 24/7, extended stay shelter to women and transgender invididuals experiencing homelessness. All guests have access to trauma informed supportive servies, housing focused case management, and behavioral health care.

Good to know (internal only)
  • May not be safe for those fleeing active DV, IPV, or HT (Gen Pop Shelter)
  • Eligible: Women, Transgender (male/female Id), Non-binary Adults (18+)
  • Couples: Allowed if both meet eligibility but separate sleeping areas
  • Proof of COVID vax required (or Dr. note RE: ineligibility)
  • Transportation: No but bus pass provided to shelter guests

Referrals & Intake

  • Almost always full.
  • Must call at 10am daily to check bed availability.
  • Phone screen required.

  • Type: Low-barrier 24/7 extended stay shelter
  • Stay: indefinite
  • Space: dorm-style (bunk bed) accommodations shared by 22 guests, locked storage for belongings (small, necessities only)
  • ADA: Yes – inform when calling
  • Safety: confidential address, 24/7 staff, 24/7 monitored cameras, locked entrances monitored by staff
  • Pets: Service & Emotional Support dogs/cats only
  • Rules: 10pm curfew, masks in common areas, no substances or paraphernalia on-site
  • Requirements: CM & Life Skills Engagement, full COVID vax, must be actively looking for long-term housing
  • Addt’l Services (for shelter guests only): Therapy, Transportation Asst (bus passes), Housing Search Asst, VI-SPDAT/Coord Enrollment, Rent/Utility/Move-in $ Asst
  • Also has low-income Permanent Supportive Housing (Arroyo Village)
